Preparing for Your Boudoir Session..

Easy Peasy Beautiful! I want your experience to be pampering, glamorous, sexy and RELAXING! So I've compiled a few stress reducing recommendations to help ease you into your shoot! The less stress the better!

The Beautiful Miss. Dawna.

Often, clients will have questions about the session, so here is my full list of boudoir photo shoot tips to help you prepare!

Can I recommend just one thing?!?  Yes, a BODYSUIT.  You will thank me later. :)

Hair In general your hair should be free-flowing. Clip-in extensions, hairpieces, and even wigs can, also, be a great way to glam-up your hairstyle. I do offer curling your hair in my package pricing, but if you would rather go see your hairdresser, I totally get it, I am very very keen on sticking with who I trust, that is totally fine! It doesn't lower the package price though.

Body

Treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure, but avoid rough, exfoliating harsh facials or waxing for 1-2 days before your session as they can cause redness or blotchiness. Please do not spray tan or self tan the day of or day before your shoot. You will be orange in your photos. Avoid body makeup, glittery lotions, and oil the day of your shoot PLEASE!!! My linens, washing machine and your photos will be very grateful!

Makeup

Please arrive fresh faced unless alternate arrangements have been made! I apply makeup but do feel free to go to your favorite MUA to obtain the desired look you seek! I do have 20+ years experience, but there is just something about going to MAC or other, and getting your makeup done that I cannot compete with!! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at MAC for my first Boudoir Session of myself!

PRO TIP: LASHES ARE SOOOO IMPORTANT!! I supply luxury false lashes because it is a staple for every shoot, just like Lingerie. (My opinion only) But MAN!! Do they ever make your eyes pop in the photos!!

Lingerie and Outfits

•DO cut out all tags from your clothing options including the launder instructions inside.

•DO invest in at least one cute pair of panties or a bra/panty set that makes you feel super sexy and fits your body type.  Bodysuits and Teddies are a favorite option as well.

•DON’T wear anything that is too small and digs into your skin or creates the dreaded “muffin top.”

•DO consider normal clothing if you’re nervous about being too revealing, such as off the shoulder tees, jeans, cardigans, tanktops, a fitted button-up shirt, a pencil skirt, or a fitted v-neck t-shirt. Many of these items can be paired with cute undergarments to make a very sexy (but less skimpy) outfit.

•DO remember that sometimes no outfit can be the best outfit. Some of our favorite images were photos taken when our client wasn’t wearing anything clothing-related, and simply covered up with a white sheet, towel, pillow, or a prop (sheet & furs provided in studio).

•DON’T feel like you have to drop a ton of money on new items for your shoot. Although it can be nice to have one really elaborate piece of lingerie, we can create stunning images with the items you already have in your closet. •DO load up on accessories! But PLEASE no PEARLS!! •DO bring long necklaces, but not gaudy costume jewelry or hats. •Do bring fishnets or sheer black hose, and most importantly--cute shoes!! High heels are a nice way to extend the length of your legs. At the moment I only have size 8 heels for Studio Wear.

If you have any other questions about what to bring or how to prepare for a boudoir shoot, please let me know and I will be so happy to help!
